Using Compatibility View in Internet Explorer 8 - IE8
Internet Explorer 8 incorporates many new features and
standards. Quite a few of these are aimed at security and functionality.
Method #1 – Display All Websites in Compatibility View
This is the catch all and will make sure all sites
run in Compatibility mode.
Just remember you may want to turn this off at some
point in the future as more websites take advantage of the features available in
IE8.
·
From the Tools menu select Compatibility View Settings

·
In the Compatibility View Settings Dialog select the Display
all websites in Compatibility View checkbox and click Close

·
Now all the sites you visit will be viewed in Compatibility Mode.
METHOD #2 – Select Compatibility View from the Navigation bar
·
When you arrive at the page you are browsing to, check the navigation
bar for this button:

·
If you click this button the page will refresh and
be viewed in Compatibility Mode.

·
You will also get a pop up similar to this one informing
you the page has been set to compatibility mode

·
Now whenever you visit this page it will display in compatibility
mode.
·
NOTE - IE8 will decide which sites to display the “Compatibility
View” button for on a case by case base (and some other factors). If the
button doesn’t display for a particular site and you want to be sure it’s
running in compatibility mode, then either method #1 or #3 in this document to
do that.
METHOD #3 – Manually specifying site to run in Compatibility Mode
·
From the Tools menu select Compatibility View Settings

·
In the Dialog box, in the Add This Website field,
the current web address will be displayed (see below)
·
You can either leave the entry or Manually enter the
desired web address.
·
Then simply click the Add button to add it to the list.
·
Click Close to complete the process.
